The Blu-ray format offers five times the storage capacity of regular DVDs, holding up to 25GB on a single layer & 50GB on dual-layer discs.  Blu-ray is currently supported by more than 180 of the world's leading consumer electronics, personal computer, recording media, video game and music companies making it an obvious successor to today’s DVD format.

• 1080p, 1080i or 720p capabilities
• Linear PCM (LPCM) - Up to 8 uncompressed audio tracks
• Dolby Digital (DD) – used for DVD's, 5.1-channel surround sound
• MPEG2 – Enhanced for HD, also used for playback of DVD's and HDTV recordings
